Tablet PCs in 2012 Feature Diversified Screen Sizes and Resolutions
Many major companies have promised new tablets for the year 2012. While we wait for December to give way to January, here are some facts about what to expect in the New Year.
In 2012, you can see slates coming with 7-inch, 8.9-inch, 9.7-inch, 10-inch and 11.6-inch displays. Companies were forced to bring tablets with varying display size and resolutions, as the vendors pushed them to bring new features in the devices.
Each quarter next year is expected to yield new tablets with upgraded specifications and new designs to the competitive market. The highly-anticipated Apple iPad 3 sports a 9.7-inch screen with 2048 x 1536 resolutions, while the Samsung’s 11.6-inch tablet will be coming with 2560 x 1600 resolutions.
Meanwhile, the other 10.1-inch slates will be rolling out with a resolution of 1920 x 1200. All the 2012 tablet PC panels will be sporting a pixel density of 200ppi unlike the 150ppi seen currently.
In the coming year, a 60 percent growth is expected in the global tablet PC shipments. According to the stats, the 95 million units’ growth is believed to be divided between the Apple iPads 53 million, Amazon and Barnes Noble 10 million, Samsung 9-10 million and Sony 1 million.
Meantime, the PC vendors including Acer, Asustek Computer, Lenovo, Hewlett-Packard and Dell are expected to fill 8.5-9 million units. The handset vendors like RIM, HTC and Motorola is expected to cover 4.5-5 million units in the global market.
