Good news for Galaxy S 4G or Infuse 4G owners. There’s a Gingerbread update waiting to be downloaded. An Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread update, though not an official one, is on the prowl for Samsung Galaxy S 4G and Infuse 4G on AT&T and T-Mobile respectively. Since the leaked thing is here, we might hear about the official release very soon.
Rooted users can go ahead here and find the update ripe to pluck. The steps for installing the files are relatively simple if you have Odin installed in your computer.
Mac users are left disappointed as Odin is strictly Windows-only. What you have to do is extract the .tar files with the password samfirmware.com and click “PDA” from within Odin and select the new md5 that you extracted.
Then, plug in your device in download mode by holding both volume buttons with the device off and plug it into your computer. After that, leave everything to Odin.
If you are not comfortable with the procedure and don’t want to risk tinkering with your devices, then we suggest you wait patiently for the carriers to run you the update officially.
