Use XBMC’s New Android App Without a Jailbreak
Android loyalists, the world just got better for you. XBMC has announced its full featured Android app on its developer’s blog.

Developers say XBMC can be launched as an application on your set-top-box, tablet, phone, or on any Android device. And it will be coming with the full set of features available in the desktop version.
XBMC, as you know, is an open source cross platform media player application with a host of features including support for all popular audio and video formats, local network playback, and even a weather forecast function.
Since it’s coming to Android, there are many things to be taken advantage of, and the developers say they haven’t even scratched the surface, like launching apps, location awareness and speech recognition, among others.
And unlike the previous versions, users do not have to root or jailbreak their devices to run the new XBMC app.
There’s no word on the release date. The developers have decided not to push to Google Play until they are satisfied that users with all kinds of devices get the same great XBMC experience. Developers now are waiting for the beta APKs, which will be available in the coming weeks.
