Tawkon Keeps a Watch on Phone Radiation Levels
Radiation from mobile phones is something that has received polarized opinions from users. A fraction of people believe it is not as harmful as it is made to believe, while the rest think the opposite. Between these two opinions, the truth is that radiation is not so harmful that you have to lock up your phone, but there are potential dangers associated with it too.

Tawkon is a free app that alerts you when your phone radiation level rises, and offers suggestions to help you lower it.
The main aim of this app is to keep a check on the levels of radiation and alert you when exposure to radiation rises during a call, and come up with simple instructions to minimize risk.
The SAR or the Specific Absorption Rate is a measure of the rate at which energy is absorbed by the body when exposed to a radio frequency electromagnetic field. Among the popular smart phones Samsung’s Galaxy S III has a low SAR rating of 0.48, Apple’s iPhone 4S has a SAR rating of 1.11, and RIM’s BlackBerry Curve 9350 has the highest at 1.5.
The Tawkon app can also direct callers to an area with better reception. By doing so the app helps reduce exposure to radiofrequency fields by allowing the phone to transmit at reduced power.
