Google to Shut Down Postini Services, to Integrate into Google Apps
Google has decided to shut down the enterprise messaging services Postini by 2013 and to integrate it fully into Google Apps. By next year, users of Postini Google Message Security (GMS) will be moved on to Google Apps for Business, while users of Postini Google Message Discovery (GMD) will be moved to Google Apps for Business and Apps Vault.

Google acquired Postini in 2007. It is an e-mail, Web security and archiving service that provide cloud computing services for filtering e-mail spam and malware. It also offers optional e-mail archiving, and protects client networks from web-borne malware.
Google Apps provides customizable versions of several Google products under a custom domain name. It features several Web applications with similar purpose to traditional office suites, including Gmail, Google Groups, Google Calendar, Talk, Docs and Sites. All Google Apps administrators would be able to use the features previously sold via the Postini Google Message Filtering service for free. It enables emails to be routed and filtered without having to use complex rule sets to both Gmail accounts and on-premises email servers.
