EU App Lets Stranded Passengers Know Their Rights
You are at the airport, on your way to attend that super important meeting, but your flight’s cancelled at the last minute. You are so pissed that you want to sue the airlines, but you don’t know much about your legal rights. Don’t panic. European Union has launched a new app to help you out in such situations.

The new smartphone app called Your Passenger Rights allows air and rail passengers stranded in the EU due to cancellations or delays to immediately check on their legal rights regarding rebates and compensation. The app also helps you find information on who to complain to if your rights are suspected to have been disrespected.
European Commission Vice President Siim Kallas, responsible for transport, understands the need for coming up with this app. “How many of us have stood in an airport and felt the frustration of people telling you that you have no rights when you know you have. With this application millions of travelers can have easy access to the right information about their passenger rights when they most need it, when unexpected situations arise,” she said.
Your Passenger Rights is available for iPhone and iPad, Google Android, RIM Blackberry and Microsoft Windows Phone 7.
Under EU rules, if a flight is cancelled passengers may be entitled to significant compensation. So is the case if your luggage is damaged, a package holiday hotel is not as advertised, or a train time is changed.
Now that’s what we call a people friendly app.
