TV Guide, the weekly American magazine with listings of TV shows, has now developed an app for iOS. The new app is aimed at helping users find popular shows and then share them among friends.

Users of the app can create a Watchlist where they can add the shows they would like to watch.

The app will provide notifications and updates when the shows marked as favorite comes up on TV. The new app also includes the ability to save video searches based on a specific program or actor, and also lets you share comments about a program through Facebook or Twitter. You can also make celebrity Watchlists.

Watchlists make it easier to find those channels that have their own apps for on streaming services like ABC, ABC Family, CW, Hulu Plus, HBO GO, MAX GO, Crackle and iTunes.

There is a feature called Tonight Trending, where it shows a list of all the hot shows based on what TV Guide users are watching. This app helps TV viewers’ big time and it is also helping advertisers because brands are allowed to pay for various video showcases and branded content.

Quite a few startups like Zeebox, GetGlue, and Comcast are competing in a similar line but TV Guide has a brand name and it is a pretty cool app too.
