Sonic Jump is the First Original iOS Game from Sega
Finding a Sonic game in any of the platforms, whether it is mobile, PC or the video game consoles, is easy. The original idea of Sega’s long running franchise was in the 2D platform. At least, we are more comfortable in seeing the hedgehog in a 2D perspective rather than its later 3D realizations. So for the mobile platform, the archetypal model felt deserving and felt almost like playing on consoles with tighter controls.

And, that led lot of developers to make a sonic game on the mobile platform and we were blessed with the blue hedgehog’s action in all major mobile platforms like J2ME, Symbian, Android and iOS.
iOS has the least list of Sonic games and a majority of them belongs to various developers with the publishing done by Sega. But now Sega has come up with an original game, the very first one for the iOS and it’s called the ‘Sonic Jump’.
Sadly the concept for Sonic Jump is not “original”, it is basically Doodle Jump with sonic in it. You know the awesomely popular Doodle Jump, where we guide an innocent alien-like creature to jump up to infinite amount of small floating platforms for reaching the maximum possible height.
So Sonic Jump doesn’t have that adrenalin rush running, but it’s refreshing to see a Sonic nature in it. Sonic Jump has two modes – story and arcade. The story mode is built on a stage structure, which is divided into the three main zones and each zone has a particular number of levels to complete. The story mode will feature boss battles, likely our famous Dr. Eggman and his minions.
Arcademode challenges you to make the highest points and you can compete your scores on leaderboards with other players.
Another option in the game is the Store. Since it’s a freemium title, there are in-game unlockables like new characters, new power-ups and so for that can be grabbed for a definite amount of golden rings that you have collected during the gameplay.
Like any freemium title, if you think collecting the desired amount of golden rings is time consuming you can purchase those items with real money. Sonic Jump is available on App Store for $1.99.
