Developers of the app are expecting an approval from Apple to include the software in iPhone. In addition to the 23,000 private weather stations they have, the Weather Underground operates through a network of official weather stations that are spread across the entire world.

Through this huge network of weather stations, you can get the weather conditions of any part of the world –  even the slight variations can be read from closer locations. In Denver area alone, there are four weather stations none of which are farther than 8 miles.

With the WunderMap service, the iPhone will get a number of other features like animated radar, satellite, webcams, and severe weather updates. In contrast to other weather apps, WunderMap is very stable and won’t crash under ordinary circumstances, not to mention, it is relatively fast.

According to Weather Underground, the services WunderMap will provide include, 7-day forecast including a test summary, hourly forecast with sunshine and sunset, saving your favorite location and recent searches, snow and winter sport reports.

There are options to share your weather results on Twitter, and a beautiful weather commentary from Dr. Jeff Masters.

WunderMap also will have provisions to integrate National Weather Service Radio, and have a Tropical Weather and Hurricane Coverage, an essential service in hurricane prone areas. Get the app here.
