All ye artists out there, here’s an app that would make you while away your time sketching. SketchBookX 2.0, from the desk of Autodesk is a free app that makes sketching on screens easy and fun.
The folks at DROIDDOG went over the Android application on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, and found the performance on the Tegra 2-powered slate to be smooth and silky. The SketchbookX interface is clean and spotless with a toolbar that houses many features.
You can find a gallery of your sketches, a one-touch “New File” button, a help button, Undo, Redo, color selector, line type selector, a predefined transform selector, a manual transform selector, text tool, and a layer selector on the toolbar. There is a wheel-like system that allows you to input the colors of your choice with the tools you need.
There are many other additional buttons and features that aids in creating your masterpiece. Customizable buttons are also available to make the experience even more friendly and easy.
You might find it a tad difficult to get a drawing done if you are using the SketchBookX app for the first time. But after the initial discomfort, the experience grows on you and you can stroke away with ease.
As compared to other applications that provide sketching experiences, this app has minimal lag in touch tracking. And if you think that your drawing would be lost to you if your battery died unexpectedly, don’t worry.
The app has a restore feature that recovers your drawing without a break in the line. If you are a novice in the art of sketching, this app should help you pave way to become an artist.
