Ford has revealed a new and attractive app which is now available for drivers who own vehicles that support Sync AppLink.  The app is named Roximity and was the champion of the Ford Sync App Developer Challenge held at the 2011 Disrupt Hackathon. The app is accessible for iOS devices and adds some exciting features for drivers.

Roximity is a location responsive service that lets drivers be familiar with deals offered at surrounding businesses as they drive. The aim is to let you know if a shop you’re about to pass by has any special deals. Users of the app are able to enter in individual preferences and interests so the app can provide the user with their specific needs.
Roximity requires the user to connect his iPhone to Sync via USB and activate AppLink. Once the iPhone is connected to the car through the USB port, the driver can use his own voice to ask the app to offer any special deals in the nearby retail shops.
Ford said that Roximity is the first app to have AppLink compatibility at launch. The app is available free of cost and will be offered for other devices in a short while. The app developers say that as users interact with Roximity it will learn their preferences and patterns and thus will offer more deals. The app also has the facility to announce deals verbally so drivers  don’t have to take keep their eyes off the road while driving.
