Research In Motion hasn’t had, what you would call, a fair year so far, with any new updates or devices to boast about. So to get a lid on that bad run experience, RIM is coming out with a new app for their BlackBerrys.

We heard that the Android App Player for the BlackBerry PlayBook is hovering in the horizon. The Player is a bridge by which you can bring Android apps to the PlayBook.

The Player loads into the PlayBook and plays back the apps for you.The downside is that not every app is available within the Player. For that to happen, the developers should first integrate their Android apps to the PlayBook.

A beta version of the player was spied on the company website. The page is torn off now, but not before a considerable amount of people have had a look.

The file size is, reportedly, huge and lags a bit. It lacks a back button but by swiping across the bottom of the screen you can move on to the previous page.

The posted Player could have been an older version, since it doesn’t look to be as refined as you would expect of a new one. But the appearance of a beta hints that something from the RIM kit is in the offing.
